Kit and Ace. Have you heard of it? If not, let me introduce you to your next obsession/go-to/must have it now brand. Kit and Ace is an apparel brand founded by the wife and son of Lululemon founder Chip. The names of these humans who are most often identified as “the wife and son of Lululemon founder Chip, are Shannon and J.J. Wilson. This ridiculously comfy and chic brand has already hit its stride and it’s only the very beginning (The privately held company launched in the beginning of 2015).
Much like Lulu, the company is based in Vancouver, Canada. Much like Lulu the company as a brand focuses on two imaginary people who live the Kit and Ace lifestyle. Unlike it’s ridiculously successful mommy, Kit and Ace focuses on sweaters, Ts, pullovers, dresses, coats and more that are made of “Qemir,” a “technical cashmere” fabric that can be thrown into a washer and dryer. No pilling, no shrinking. Bye bye dry cleaner.
Here is what I think. I think Creative Director Shannon Wilson is hitting the nail on the head when she talks about creating luxurious pieces that are more “user friendly”. I also think timing is everything and right now the fashion landscape is focusing on active wear as everyday wear, giving a nod to athletic silhouettes and embracing something like wearing cashmere sweatpants to work. Kit and Ace is intering this market at the perfect time. Everyone is ready for a luxury brand that is beyond comfy and still chic AF ( that’s a bad word for those that don’t know).
There is a Kit and Ace opening within walking distance from my house and this is both very exciting and very dangerous. I also have a Lululemon a stones throw away, however at this point in my life, I may be shopping Kit and Ace more than my old standby. I mean, how much Lulu can one girl have. Do I really need the same yoga/spin pants when I already own 15 pairs? No. Do I really need the same cute moto or simple sip up when I already own 10? No. You know what I need? Better basics. Better athleisure wear (Yes that is now a word).
The shop director (that’s chic code for manager) of my neighborhood Kit and Ace, hosted a shopping party for me/secretly fancy. She let me invite a few of my favorite friends to Union Market in DC. It was awesome. Below is a quick edit of my current must haves. Any questions about Kit and Ace or want to know more of my favorite items? Talk to me.
Don’t forget to visit my Shop My Favorites section. I have added even more amazingness. Wishing everyone the best Wednesday ever.
Shop the rest of the collection on the Kit and Ace website which is currently in Beta. Be patient, their full site will be coming very soon.
